Yesterday at the 2nd stage of the Tour of California, the Latvian rider Toms Skujins was the victim of a violent fall in a descent 20 kilometers from the finish. While he was part of the head escape, the young hope of the Cannondale team fell heavily on the road and had a hard time getting up, completely disoriented. Trying to get back on his bike, he fell to the ground once again losing his balance. Then, once again, the injured rider digresseded on the bitumen, trying to pick up his HF receiver, just avoiding being hit by the hunting group that was coming at full speed. Toms Skujins is finally gone painfully, missing to fall again by shaving a sidewalk. A few minutes later, Jonathan Vaughters, the boss of Cannondale, asked his racing cars to stop the rider and put him in safety. Transported to the hospital, the exams revealed a concussion as well as a fracture of the left clavicle and large scratches.
