A macaque tries to mate with a Sika deer. The scene was observed in November 2015 on the Japanese island of Yakushima by a team of French scientists. Sika macaques and deer live together on the island. They interact regularly together, searching for food, grooming and sometimes macaques play rodeo on cervids. But the photographer Alexandre Bonnefoy witnessed another kind of rodeo that had never been observed. A monkey tried to mate with a doe. For scientists, there is no ambiguity, this male seeks to pass his sexual frustration on the first coming. This male is probably not yet integrated into the group and does not have access to females.
